Doherty Found Headless Deer In House

Pete Doherty

A new documentary about Pete Doherty reveals that the Babyshambles frontman once found a headless deer carcass in his Durley, England home.

The U.K.'s MTV One broadcast Pete Doherty In 24 Hours on Sunday. Doperty claimed in the film that one of his neighbours must have left the deer in his house, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper.

"Someone brought in a dead deer while I was out," Doperty says in the documentary.

"Somehow they got in and left the deer in the house. That was quite terrifying. I'd been in the house for a couple of days and then I found this rotting, headless carcass of a deer in one of the far rooms."

Feel free to insert your own Godfather joke here.

It takes someone pretty out of it not to smell a rotting dear carcass in a house containing for a few days. But maybe someone was doing Doperty a favour and hoping he'd turn the carcass into one of his bizarre art projects.

Doperty's not particularly known for being squeamish, since he once dribbled his own blood on to canvasses and passed those off as "art." He also seems to have no fear of rats, which are probably just as unhygienic as a headless deer.

So why do dead deer bother Doperty so much? Or did he bring it into the house and just not remember? The possibilities about how this happened are endless.

Doperty, who's well-known for his drug problems, told Britain's News Of The World tabloid that watching Amy Winehouse become addicted to drugs has made him want to change his ways.

"She had gone deeper and deeper into a black place," he said. "She needed a bright light. And that bright light turned out to be the sun."

Doperty will release his Grace/Wastelands debut solo album on March 24 in North America.
