Comic geeks salivating in anticipation of the March 6 premiere of Watchmen can further pump themselves up three days before the film hits theatres by repeatedly listening to its soundtrack and score.
Music From The Motion Picture Watchmen and Watchmen Original Motion Picture Score will be released on CD and as downloads by Warner Sunset/Reprise Records on March 3. A vinyl version of the soundtrack will follow two weeks later.
Music From The Motion Picture Watchmen includes My Chemical Romance's cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row," which was recorded exclusively for the film. It also includes classics by Leonard Cohen, Simon & Garfunkel, Janis Joplin and others.
Watchmen Original Motion Picture Score features music by recording artist, composer and producer Tyler Bates, who was asked to score the film by Watchmen director Zack Snyder. Bates previously worked on the scores for 300, Dawn Of The Dead, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Slither, Rob Zombie's Halloween, The Devil's Rejects and the Californication television series. He also scored the forthcoming Watchmen DVD, Tales Of The Black Freighter.
Watchmen Music Collectors Edition 7" Box Set will be released on March 24. It contains seven double-sided seven-inch picture discs of each Watchmen character on one side, and images in the likeness of the graphic novel on the other. Musically, it includes My Chemical Romance's "Desolation Row" and 13 tracks by Bates.
