The Killers' next album will be a covers disc featuring renditions of songs by Tom Waits, Genesis and Rod Stewart, according to frontman Brandon Flowers.
Flowers told
Q magazine about the project and said the band weren't sure where they wanted to take their music next after last year's
Day & Age.
"Every day, I change. One day, I want to be deadly serious, and the next, I just want to write great pop songs and have fun. I don't have any kind of clear direction. I don't know if I'd want to."
Can one really be deadly serious while wearing ridiculous outfits like Flowers does?
Even if Flowers doesn't have a clear direction, he's ambitious. He thinks The Killers could become the world's biggest band.
"U2 are unbelievable but they're getting old," he said. "I think it's time.
"We want to see where this will take us. It doesn't make any sense to place restrictions [on yourself]."
Flowers recently bought a large patch of desert near Las Vegas because he intends to build a home there with a giant Desert Casino sign in the garden.

Before they go messing with other peoples good songs, shouldn't they be required to write a good original one?
