Amy Winehouse: Life-Saving Heroine

Amy Winehouse's self-destructive behaviour might have people wondering whether she cares about her own life, but we now have definite proof that she cares very much about others.

Winehouse saved a British woman from drowning last week while on vacation in St. Lucia, according to Britain's The Sun tabloid.

Louise Williams was sailing in the Caribbean when a two-metre wave threw her from her boat. She landed on some rocks near where Winehouse was relaxing, and the singer jumped into the water, picked her up from the rocks and stopped her from drifting out to sea where she could have drowned.

"I was bowled over by her kindness," Williams said. "She went out of her way to help me."

Williams told The Sun that Winehouse kept asking her if she was alright while she washed her cut back and cleaned her up.

"It shows there's another side to her," Williams said.

Winehouse also saved a six-year-old boy's life when she saw him trying to eat a deadly raw cashew earlier this month.

If only Winehouse could use some of that energy to clean herself up. The singer, who claims she's off drugs, has reportedly been annoying guests at the exclusive St. Lucia resort where she's staying with her alcohol-fueled antics. She's also been seen cavorting around topless and reportedly had an affair, which has prompted jailed husband Blake Fielder-Civil to being divorce proceedings against her.

It was reported on Wednesday that Winehouse "wrecked" her hotel room after she went on a rum-drinking binge. Winehouse reportedly invited some hotel guests to her room, but things soon got crazy.

"It started in a civilised manner, with Amy's friends from the U.K. and her new buddies chilling out and singing," a source told the U.K.'s The London Paper tabloid. "When they started playing board games, someone had the wise idea to incorporate a twist — making the losers drink rum.

"Soon, everyone was drinking regardless. It got pretty wild with Amy jumping around and showing off her yoga moves in her bra and knickers. She freaked out and made all the remaining guests help in a major clean-up."

That's not the only wild party she's thrown while on vacation. Winehouse blew 10,000 pounds (about $17,500 Canadian) on one night of partying, according to The Sun. She apparently paid for dozens of tables of food, hundreds of bottles of wine and 30 bottles of champagne for a group of about 30 people.

"Some are friends, but the majority are just outsiders who have latched into her and taken advantage," a source told The Sun. "They see her as an open cheque book."
