Vancouver rockers
Lions In The Street's five-song
Mixtape EP can be downloaded from their
website.
While you can do it for free, the band are hoping you'll like the material enough to make a PayPal donation to help them continue to make music.
The EP includes a new song, a demo and some older tracks recorded at Los Angeles' Hollywood Sound with producer Dave Cobb for TVT Records before the company filed for bankruptcy protection and auctioned off its assets last year. The songs can also be heard on Lions In The Street's
MySpace page along with "Moving Along" from their forthcoming LP.
The quartet have finished recording their full-length debut with engineer/producer Shawn Cole (You Say Party We Say Die, Bend Sinister). The analogue recordings were mostly captured live over a weekend at Vancouver's Mushroom Studios. The album is expected in the spring, but no release date, title or track list have been revealed.
"This is some seriously top shelf rock and roll: our signature throw-down blues rockers, gospel ballads, freak-out jams, and even some Felice and Boudleaux Bryant-ish country," said a 2008 MySpace
blog entry about the new material.
Lions In The Street's
Cat Got Your Tongue debut EP can also be downloaded from their website.
The band will head south to play the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas with a lot of
other Canadians from March 18 to 22.
Here are the songs on the
Mixtape EP:

"Still The Same"
