Vote For Your Favourite Music Club In CBC Radio 3 Poll
Many of you attend concerts at clubs across Canada, and now you can vote for your favourite venue in CBC Radio 3's new poll.
CBC Radio 3 wants listeners to determine the country's best live music club. Nominations open on Wednesday at 3 p.m. You can nominate your favourite club on the CBC Radio 3 website or email searchlight@cbcradio3.com as of 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Only currently operating indoor clubs that cater to live music and have a capacity of 1,000 or less are eligible.
"Music lovers know that the very best way to experience their favourite bands, or to discover a favourite artist, is to see the act live — and most of us see our favourite bands within the darkened walls of a club," says CBC 3's Grant Lawrence.
"We want to reward clubs for their long-term dedication to the Canadian music scene. And we want to find the very best one."
CBC Radio 3 will announce a long list of all the eligible clubs on Jan. 28, and listeners will then be able to vote once a day on the Radio 3 site. The top 20 will be announced on Feb. 2, which will be whittled down to 10 on Feb. 11, and pared down once again to five clubs on Feb. 18. The winner will be announced on Feb. 25.
The winning club will receive a live concert from CBC Radio 3, a Sirius satellite radio and subscription, CBC Radio 3 swag for its owners and staff, a plaque and a trophy.
A similar poll sought out the best record store in Canada last spring. Prince George, B.C.'s Underdog Meow Records took top honours, winning an in-store Radio 3 broadcast with a performance from Chad VanGaalen.
