It's probably no surprise that Coldplay and Duffy received the most BRIT Awards nominations on Tuesday with four nods each.

Coldplay and Duffy are both up for the best British album and British single. Elbow, Radiohead and The Ting Tings were also nominated for best British album. Coldplay are also in the running for for best British group and British live act, and Duffy received nominations for best British female solo artist and British breakthrough act.

If Coldplay win in all four categories, it will give them a career total of 10 BRIT Awards. Robbie Williams holds the record for the most BRITs won by an artist with 11.

Adele is just behind Coldplay and Duffy with three nominations, including best British female solo artist, British breakthrough act and British single for "Chasing Pavements." Fleet Foxes received nominations for best international album and international group.

The Pet Shop Boys will be honoured with the outstanding contribution to music award, while Florence And The Machine have already won thie Critics' Choice Award.
