Oasis' Liam Gallagher and actor Tom Cruise nearly got into a fight over the weekend when they bumped into each other at a German hotel.

Gallagher and Cruise literally ran into each other in the hall, and Cruise confronted Gallagher to remind him of some impolite comments the singer had made about him in the 2007 Lord Don't Slow Me Down Oasis documentary.

"I hate Tom Cruise," Gallagher says in the film. "I can't stand that small bastard — him and [Newcastle United soccer player] Michael Owen."

As virtually everybody and their dog knows, confronting Gallagher isn't a wise move because one typically can walk away with a few bruises — or at least a very bruised ego. But Britain's Daily Star newspaper reports that Gallagher lowered his head and told Cruise that he'd also said "I really like Cocktail" in the documentary.

"For the first time in his life, Liam was lost for words," a source told the Daily Star. "Tom did a double-take as they passed each other and went back to say hello.

"And without losing the smile from his face, he reminded Liam about the cheeky comments he'd made. They made polite conversation and Liam made a hasty departure."

Another source told the tabloid that "fans feared for Tom's safety." But luckily, no violence or bad blood was had.

Oasis are touring Europe in support of last year's Dig Out Your Soul. They were recently forced to postpone a gig in Dusseldorf, Germany because Liam Gallagher had fluid in his vocal chords and a sore throat. Doctors advised him to rest for 48 hours, so the gig, which was originally scheduled for Monday night, has been moved to Feb. 4.
