Amy Winehouse is launching a label called Lioness Records whose first signing is her 12-year-old goddaughter.
Winehouse spent a million pounds (about $1.8 million Canadian) to launch the label and sign her goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield,
according to a report by U.K. tabloid News Of The World.
"I had a lot of record companies wanting to sign me but I didn't know where to go," Bromfield told News Of The World. "So for Amy to set up this record company and make me her first signing means so much."
Winehouse also apparently flew her goddaughter to St. Lucia, where she's been on holiday, to plan Bromfield's debut.
Winehouse has enlisted Lady GaGa, X Factor finalist Eoghan Quigg and others to duet with Bromfield on the album,
according to News Of The World.
"Dionne is young but she has more potential than any girl I've ever seen," Winehouse told the U.K.'s The Independent newspaper last year. "I know she's got an advantage by knowing me but I'd put her in a room against anyone and she'd do the business."
Bromfield first came into the public eye when she appeared with Winehouse in a YouTube video singing Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You," which you can see below.
As long as Bromfield doesn't take after Winehouse or use her as a role model, everything will be fine... But frankly, the idea of Winehouse mentoring a 12-year-old scares us a good deal.
Winehouse recently said she's off drugs, and she keeps going back and forth on husband Blake Fielder-Civil (who got her addicted to drugs in the first place) like a ping pong ball.
Winehouse was said to have started divorce proceedings against her incarcerated husband last year, and Fielder-Civil did likewise earlier this month.
Winehouse was reportedly seen cavorting with Josh Bowman earlier this month at the St. Lucia resort where she's staying, which prompted Fielder-Civil to initiate divorce proceedings. But the singer recently told the U.K.'s The Sun tabloid that she doesn't want Fielder-Civil to divorce her.
"I still love my Blake. I won't let him divorce me."
Why? Well, apparently they're kind of the same person.
"Blake is the male version of me," she told The Sun. "We're perfect for each other. I don't want to go back home to England. I want to wait for Blake [in St. Lucia]."
She also went on to say that Bowman was nice, "but it was a holiday thing. I've got my Blake."
Winehouse's comments come after she said things were "over" between her and Fielder-Civil since the two were "only together for sex."
