Neil Young, Truckers Back Booker T.

Booker T. Jones enlisted Neil Young and the Drive-By Truckers to be his backing band on an all-instrumental album titled Potato Hole that's scheduled for an April 21 release through Anti- Records.
Jones plays organ and acoustic and electric guitar on the album. The 64-year-old soul music legend wrote seven of the 10 songs, with covers of new labelmate Tom Waits' "Get Behind The Mule," OutKast's "Hey Ya" and Drive-By Truckers' "Space City" rounding out the collection.
The Truckers appear on all tracks, while Young plays lead guitar on nine of the 10 songs. Potato Hole was recorded in one week last fall in Georgia and California and was produced by Jones and Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, The Vines).
"I really feel like I've been opened up again, I've got the creative muse working for me," says Jones. "It's like I have discovered a new method, a little road I can take to open it up, and I'm excited about playing this music."
Jones was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992 and the Musicians Hall Of Fame last year with his group The MGs. The best known lineup of the band was composed of guitarist Steve Cropper, drummer Al Jackson, Jr. and bassist Lewie Steinberg, who was replaced by Donald "Duck" Dunn in 1965.
Jones' distinctive Hammond B3 organ sound may be best known by The MGs' 1962 instrumental hit, "Green Onions." They served as the Stax Records house band for classic '60s recordings
by Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd, Carla Thomas and many
others.
Jones also produced albums by Willie Nelson, Rita Coolidge and Bill Withers. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
Jones is expected to announce a number of North American festival appearances shortly, but here's where you can see him for now:
