Toronto's Sparks Music has welcomed Montreal's The Lovely Feathers and Toronto's Tin Star Orphans to its roster.
"We are very excited to have both of these great acts join a list of artists that we are all very proud of," says Sparks' Jeff Rogers. "This roster growth comes at a very important stage in our development, as we are days away from announcing a new alliance with a U.S. partner."
The Lovely Feathers are singer/guitarists Mark Kupfert and Richard Yanofsky, keyboardist/vocalist David Buzaglo, bassist Noah Bernamoff and drummer Ted Suss. They're mixing their still-untitled Sparks debut in Montreal in anticipation of an April or May release.
The Lovely Feathers released their My Best Friend Daniel debut in 2004 and the underrated Hind Hind Legs followed in 2006. Their music has been heard on the television shows One Tree Hill and The Adrenaline Project.
The Tin Star Orphans were called Yonder when they formed in 2003. They renamed themselves shortly before self-releasing their Skywalk To Crescent Town debut last year. Sparks will reissue the album, which will be retitled Yonder, this year.
The Tin Star Orphans are singer/guitarist Zachary Bennett, guitarist Dean Marino, multi-instrumentalist Todd Harrison, bassist/singer Travis Ferris and drummer Johnny Rowe. Bennett is also an actor who has had roles on CBC TV's The Border and in last year's Everest mini-series.
You can see The Tin Star Orphans with Ryan Masters and Five Blank Pages at Toronto's Rancho Relaxo on Feb. 6.
