Pete Doherty Plots Solo Debut

Pete Doherty

Former Libertines and Babyshambles singer/guitarist Pete Doherty will release his debut solo album on March 9 in the U.K.

It's not known when the 12-track disc will hit stores on this side of the pond, and it doesn't yet have a title. It was produced by Stephen Street (Blur, Kaiser Chiefs) at London's Olympic Studios last year.

Blur's Graham Coxon played guitar on every song but one Scottish singer/songwriter Dot Allison duetted with Doherty on "Sheepskin Tearaway. Doherty's Babyshambles bandmates also contributed.

Lead single "Last Of The English Roses" will be released on March 2.

Doherty played guitar while Roger Daltrey sang some classic Who songs at a charity concert to support Daltrey's Teenage Cancer Trust foundation in Bristol, England on Monday night. Daltrey asked Doherty to be part of a tribute to teenager Daniel Squires, who died from cancer last July. Doherty sang at his funeral.

Doherty hasn't gotten into too much trouble lately (which is why we're not referring to him as Doperty this time), so this may actually be a coherent album, just as long as he didn't lock himself in a rat-filled coffin to record it.

Here's what's on Doherty's album:

"Arcadie"
"Last Of The English Roses"
"1939 Returning"
"A Little Death Around The Eyes"
"Salome"
"Through The Looking Glass"
"Sweet By And By"
"Palace Of Bone"
"Sheepskin Tearaway"
"Broken Love Song"
"New Love Grows On Trees"
"Lady, Don't Fall Backwards"
