Lily Allen Actually Dislikes Drugs

Lily Allen wants you to know drug use isn't a good thing — and she doesn't condone snorting cocaine.
In an interview she gave earlier this week with The Word magazine, Allen was asked about the drug-referencing "Everyone's At It" from her upcoming sophomore album, It's Not Me, It's You.
"The only story is that drugs are bad and they will kill you — I know lots of people that take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go to work every day, no problem," said Allen. "But we never hear that side of the story."
A statement from the singer now says the media have taken this quote the wrong way.
"At no point [during the interview] does [Lily] say that drugs are a good thing or that she condones drug use," the statement says. "In fact, she says that 'I can spot the signs (of people on drugs) and it terrifies me' ... Lily Allen would like to state unequivocally that she does not condone illegal drug use and has every sympathy with individuals and families whose lives have been blighted by drugs."
While Allen has no problem talking about coke, the singer apparently shied away from drugs entirely for her recent dramatic weight loss. Her secret? Hypnotherapy.
British hypnotist Susan Hepburn had several sessions with Allen which cost 300 pounds (almost $550 Canadian) a pop. She helped Allen drop two dress sizes and give up booze.
"I taught Lily to favour healthy food, low-fat meals, instead of junk food, and to see that alcohol isn't a confidence booster," Hepburn told the U.K.'s Daily Mail. "It's just extra calories that sabotage your efforts to get a good body."
Allen has also criticized her record label several times this week. In the same interview in which she spoke out about cocaine, Allen said Terra Nova, a private equity group that purchased EMI in 2007, is a bit inept when it comes to business.
"It's really sad for EMI. I hate Terra Firma. They're wankers and they don't really know what they're doing. They will fail. They don't know how to run a creative business."
Allen recently called EMI "cheap" because she only made 50,000 pounds from 2006's Alright, Still debut album, which sold two million copies worldwide. She says the company doesn't treat her as well as she'd like when she travels either.
"Twenty years ago, I'd have been booked in at the Ritz with five grams of cocaine on my table and 10 bunches of flowers. Some new clothes. A chauffeur on 24-hour call," she said, according to Contactmusic.com. "Now I'm lucky to get an Oyster card [London public transportation travel ticket].
"I ask for a hotel in Paris and I get a two-star place in the eighth arrondissement on my own. I'm like, 'Do you want me to get raped and killed?'
"I'm not being snobby. But if I have to go away for work, why can't it be nice for me when it's making me money?"
What could have brought this on? Did Allen find out Katy Perry stayed in some swank hotel and got pissed about it? And what's with the mention of cocaine again? If you're going to say you're anti-drugs, you should probably avoid mentioning wanting to stay at the Ritz and having cocaine on the table in the same sentence.
The way Allen's talking about the eighth arrondissement, you'd think it was one of the worst areas of the French capital. It's actually located next to the River Seine and is the location of the Arc Du Triomphe, the Champs Elyssees, the opera house, Place De La Concorde and the president's residence at Elysee Palace. It's also one of Paris' biggest business districts, with swanky shops and designer fashion stores galore.
