Michael Jackson reportedly has plans to leave Paul McCartney some of The Beatles' catalogue in his will.
Jackson outbid McCartney and Yoko Ono to the rights to 200 Beatles songs in 1985. He merged the Beatles catalogue with Sony to create the Sony ATV music publishing company, which he owns 50 per cent of. Jackson and McCartney, who were previously good friends and collaborated on such sappy hits as "Ebony And Ivory" and "The Girl Is Mine," haven't been on good terms since.
"Michael told his lawyers he was sad he no longer talks to Sir Paul and said he wanted to make things right," a source close to Jackson said, according to Britain's Daily Mirror tabloid.
McCartney said "going on tour and paying to sing" his songs wasn't right in 2006.
"Every time I sing 'Hey Jude,' I've got to pay someone," the 66-year-old said, according to Spinner.com.
It was reported last month that the 50-year-old Jackson is dying of Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic disorder that depletes a protein which protects the liver and lungs. Jackson's spokesperson promptly denied the rumours. But if the guy's talking about his will, who knows?
Canadian writer Ian Halperin claims he does. Halperin was the person who broke the alleged news about Jackson's poor health while talking about an unauthorized biography of the eccentric pop singer. He's offering to pay for medical tests to prove that his claims are true.
