Long Island, N.Y. group Brand New are notorious for being secretive about what goes on within their camp. Barely any details were announced prior to the release of 2006's acclaimed The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me, but it looks like the quartet are changing their tune this time around.
Drummer Brian Lane posted a MySpace blog entry on Tuesday that includes vague details about Brand New's upcoming album and the possibility of impending tour dates.
"We have all been in the studio on and off since about March," wrote Lane. "The convenience of recording around the corner has been great, but sometimes a little too comfortable setting.
"During 2008, we have rounded up some some pre-pro, some real-pro,and some semi-pro material. There are about 15 songs for us to play around with and it seems as though things are winding down and in the final stages.”
Lane seemed to be conscious of his band's tight-lippedness and promised fans that the wait for their next album wouldn't be as long as the one for the follow-up to 2003's Deja Entendu. Isn't it a bit late for that? It's already 2009.
"We cannot exactly tell you when this record will be done, but we can tell you that the new year will bring a bit more excitement from our side of things," Lane wrote. "We are fully aware of how long we were gone last time, and are not planning on staying home much longer.
"We have also talked about playing some new music together. Outside of the dungeon. Which means maybe….…YOU will be able to listen to some of our new music also. maybe."
