I hosted a Christmas party on Dec. 1, the first of many holiday season bashes I've been to this year.
The Music Tapes leader and former Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control member Julian Koster dropped by to visit Santez and his friends and play some Christmas songs on his eight-year-old singing saw named Badger. He also told some freaky stories and performed a couple original songs on his banjo before answering some questions from Santez.
You can see and hear Koster tell a story about fruit hanging and performing "O Tannenbaum" in part one of our video series in the Media section of the website. Then check out his version of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," and an always welcomed Frank Stallone reference, in part two.
New songs and stories will appear in the Media section each day this week. We won't spoil the surprise by telling you what Koster will perform, but we can assure you that it will be worth coming back to check out.
MuchMusic will also be worth watching today from 5 to 6 p.m. when the nation's music station will present their coverage of the party, which raised $172 for The Kidney Foundation Of Canada.
Happy holidays to you and yours.
