Immaculate Machine will release
High On Jackson Hill through Mint Records on April 21.
The group's fourth full-length album was recorded with producer Colin Stewart (Great Aunt Ida, They Shoot Horses Don't They?) in Immaculate Machine singer/guitarist Brooke Gallupe's parents' house, which they kindly abandoned for a month earlier this year.
"The relaxed environment compared to a sterile studio helped make the album sound really laid back and creative," the band wrote in a MySpace
blog post on Monday, which also includes photos of the recording process. "Working with producer Colin Stewart was a fantastic experience; he really helped bring out the '70s weirdo music in us."
Gallupe, singer/keyboardist Kathryn Calder and drummer Luke Kozlowski will play the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas in March and are expected to perform in Toronto in April. Calder should also be kept busy working on the new New Pornographers
album, which is expected next year.
