Trews Releasing Album In States

The Trews will put out No Time For Later in the U.S. in February, almost one year to the day after its Canadian release.
"It was really difficult getting things in line because we were coming out of another record deal down there," guitarist John-Angus MacDonald said at the Gibson Dark Fire launch in Toronto on Monday. "It took time to divorce that and then to get the new one lined up and to get everyone comfortable enough to launch it."
No Time For Later will be released south of the border by the EMI-distributed MRV Records label. The album debuted at #4 on the Nielsen SoundScan top albums chart in Canada. It was supported by substantial touring throughout Canada, the U.S. and Japan. The first single to hit the American airwaves will be "Paranoid Freak," which will be followed by more touring. That means we won't be hearing any new music from The Trews any time soon.
"If that takes up a lot of our time, it might be a while before we go back to the studio, but we don't like to leave too long — two years max between records," says MacDonald. "It keeps you fresh, it keeps you excited about going out on the road when you have new material to play. Not to mention the fact it's great for the fans.
"This is the last time you'll get to see us probably for a while," MacDonald says about the band's upcoming Canadian dates. No 2009 shows have been announced, but The Trews have four remaining Canadian dates before they leave for the U.S.:
Dec. 18 Toronto, ON @ Phoenix Concert Theatre
Dec. 20 Sarnia, ON @ The Industry
Dec. 31 Edmonton, AB @ Shaw Conference Centre
Feb. 6 London, ON @ Norma Jeans
