Toronto electro/hip-hop crossover duo Thunderheist have signed to Big Dada Records, which will release their as-yet-untitled full-length debut on March 31.
A track list for the follow-up to this year's Jerk It EP isn't available yet, but you can sample Thunderheist's music on their MySpace page.
Thunderheist have garnered a following in the Toronto area and across the country because of their shows, which can be pretty intense experiences. Here are DJ Graham Zilla's thoughts on their recent tour that he posted on the band's website on Dec. 8:
"we did a canadian tour which had us in toronto, hamilton, kingston, ottawa, montreal, victoria, vancouver and whistler. van and mtl were particularly out of control with over capacity sweatboxes and nuff crowdsurfing... i somehow cut my hand open crowd surfing and resumed djing with blood dripping on my laptop and the turntables. gonna have to start using saran wrap ala girl talk! [MC] isis spent half the set floating above peoples heads. someone accidenteally let off a pepper spray can at the end of the night. what a way to go out!"
Zilla and Isis began playing together after the DJ accidentally sent the singer a track he was working on. She liked it so much that she wrote a rap for it. Isis was born in Nigeria and has gigged with Dead Prez, T.I. and many other hip-hop artists. Zilla has DJed with and for Prodigy, The Herbaliser, The X-Ecutioners, Kid Koala, DJ Food, DJ Vadim, Jurassic 5, Chromeo and Flosstradamus.
Thunderheist have these dates scheduled:
Dec. 26 Edmonton, AB @ Starlite
Dec. 27 Calgary, AB @ Broken City Social Club
Jan. 15 New York, NY @ Santos House
Jan. 17 Chicago, IL @ Schubas
