Hylozoists Return With Seven Islands

The Hylozoists
The Hylozoists' long-awaited third album, L'Ile De Sept Villes, will finally be available on Feb. 3.

The band's first Outside Music release was produced by Jeff McMurrich (Constantines, The Hidden Cameras). The Hylozoists are known for referencing literature in their songs, and the disc takes its title from Paul Chiasson's book The Island Of Seven Cities, which is about Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island. The album also references Michel Houllebecq's novel The Possibility Of An Island in a song of the same name.

The Hylozoists formed in 2001 and released their La Nouvelle Gauche debut in 2002. La Fin Du Monde followed four years later. Their lineup includes drummer/vibraphonist/glockenspiel player and band founder Paul Aucoin, violinist Randy Lee, bassist Paul Lowman, drummer Greg Millson, keyboardist Christopher Sandes, guitarist Francois Turenne and vibraphonist/glockenspiel player/drummer Eric Woolston. Lowman and Sandes are members of Cuff The Duke, while Millson is in Great Lake Swimmers.
