Thursday Search For Common Existence

Thursday

New Jersey emocore band Thursday will release their fifth album, Common Existence, on Feb. 17 through Epitaph Records.

Common Existence is the band's first album to be released through Epitaph. Thursday were previously signed to Victory Records, but left earlier this year. Common Existence was produced by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Sleater-Kinney) this summer at Fridmann's Tarbox Road Studios in Cassadaga, N.Y.

The disc includes "As He Climbed The Dark Mountain," which was previously released on Thursday's split album with Envy, which came out earlier this year. You can hear the first single, "Resuscitation Of A Dead Man," on Thursday's MySpace page.

"No matter how big the tragedy seems in your life, that's just the same thing every other person out there is going through," Thursday singer Geoff Rickly told Spin.com. "So in a way this is like an answer to [2003's] War All The Time.

"When we did that record it was about how every little interaction is like this crazy war going on in our lives, and this one says 'now, well even the biggest things in our lives are very just common place,' and I think that’s reflected in a lot of themes in the songs, where there's an overarching theme that's illustrated by something very specific in that sense it's a lot like a Bruce Springsteen record."

Thursday formed in New Brunswick, N.J. in 1997. Their Waiting debut came out in 1999 and was followed by their Full Collapse breakthrough two years later. They've also released War All The Time and 2006's A City By The Light Divided. Their lineup includes Rickly, guitarists Tom Keeley and Steve Pedulla, bassist Tim Payne, keyboardist Andrew Everding and drummer Tucker Rule.

Thursday recently finished a Canadian tour with Rise Against and will hit the road in February to begin promoting Common Existence. You can see them here:
