New Alexisonfire In 2009

Next year looks to be screamo-filled, since not only will there be a new Silverstein album, but Alexisonfire will head into the studio to record a new disc.

Alexisonfire guitarist/singer Wade McNeil recently told Metal Hammer magazine that the band will head into the studio on Feb. 1 to begin recording a new album that should be out sometime in the spring or summer.

"For the first time ever we have too many songs," McNeil said.

"I think it is a big step up for us, it's very different but it's still Alexisonfire. It is also fucking heavy."

McNeil also said the band's writing approach has changed. He says most of the songs are about "particle physics, nomadic lifestyle, metaphysical rebellion," which may or may not be a joke (you decide), and the band have been writing new songs for quite some time.

"We usually come off the road. Kiss our girlfriends, do our laundry, write a record in a month, record it in a month, then leave for tour," he said.

Alexisonfire drummer Jordan "Ratbeard" Hastings recently completed Movember. He grew a moustache in November to raise nearly $1,300 for the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation Of Canada.

You can see Alexisonfire (and maybe hear some new songs) when they play Hamilton's Wentworth Rooms on Dec. 19 and 20. They'll have Constantines and Statues with them on the first night and Constantines and Metz on the second.
