Madonna's two Chilean stops on her Sticky & Sweet tour in support of Hard Candy have upset a retired Roman Catholic cardinal and created a sticky situation.
Jorge Medina told the audience at a mass for late dictator Augusto Pinochet (who was responsible for the deaths and disappearances of more than 3,000 people) that Madonna is more sour than sweet.
"This woman comes here and in an incredibly shameless manner, she provokes a crazy enthusiasm, an enthusiasm of lust, lustful thoughts, impure thoughts," Medina said, according to The Associated Press. "Thoughts of lust, impure thoughts, impure acts, are an offense to God and a dirty stain on our heart."
The Catholic Church must still be upset about some of Madonna's old videos or her faux lesbianism, because the material girl tested low on the slut-o-meter in Chart’s November issue.
Isn't the Catholic Church getting mad at Madonna a bit old? Remember when it flipped out over the burning cross and a stigmata-inflicted Madonna having sex with a black Jesus in the video for "Like A Prayer"? That was 1989. Here's that video, in case you forgot:
Sixty thousand people are expected to leave Madonna's show at Santiago's Estadio Nacional on Thursday with dirty, stained hearts.
