The Bicycles: Oh No, It's #1

Toronto-based quartet The Bicycles have topped the Canadian campus radio chart for the second time with their unique brand of airy pop music.
The Bicycles' The Good The Bad And The Cuddly debut held the #1 spot for two weeks in August, 2006. After debuting at #6 last week, Oh No, It's Love wasted no time climbing over its closest competitors to claim the #1 spot.
The Bicycles' rise pushed last week's top three titles down one spot. Mother Mother's O My Heart drops to #2, The Dears' Missiles to #3 and The Organ's Thieves EP to #4.
TV On The Radio's Dear Science remained at #5. A former chart champion, Chad VanGaalen's Soft Airplane, moved up two places to #6 in its 15th week in the top 50. It's followed by Belle And Sebastian's The BBC Sessions rise of seven spots to #7.
The Chart Sizzler Award goes to a couple of very influential musicians who've released their first collaborative album in 27 years. Brian Eno and David Byrne's groundbreaking My Life In The Bushes With Ghosts has just been followed by Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. It was released as a download in mid-August, but wasn't physically released until recently. Although the album received a smattering of airplay over the past month, it finally debuted at #8 this week.
Bloc Party's Intimacy rises six spots to hit #9, and DD/MM/YYYY's 777 EP closes out the top 10 after experiencing a resurgence making a nine-place move.
Outside of the Eno/Byrne collaboration, the only other substantial new entry this week belongs to Tony Dekker and the Great Lake Swimmers. Their soundtrack EP for the Song Sung Blue documentary enters at #21.
The rest of the new albums can be found in the lower echelons of the top 50. Menahan Street Band's Make The Road By Walking leads the way at #33. The Decemberists' Always The Bridesmaid single series is at #36, while The Craft Economy's independently released Is On Your Side arrives at #37. It's followed by the Nothing On But Your Radio: Live Sessions from CJSW 90.9 FM compilation at #38. This campus radio-produced CD just beats CFRU's live CD comp, Just West Of Something Big, which debuts at #41.
In yet another blast from the past, the chart welcomes the reissue of Thor's classic kitsch-filled album, Keep The Dogs Away, at #48.
Three albums retain their #1 status on the specialty charts: Squarepusher's Just A Souvenir on Electronic; Moka Only's Carrots And Eggs on Hip-Hop; and The Peggy Lee Band's New Code on Jazz/Blues.
The Metal/Punk chart sees a former #1 return to the top spot, as Bison B.C.'s Quiet Earth comes back after a six-week absence.
The only new #1 is on the World/Folk chart, where Amadou & Mariam's Welcome To Mali jumps seven places to capture the title.
