NWL's Third Act Coming

Daniel Victor

Daniel Victor, the man behind Neverending White Lights, is recording his third album.

Victor says he's planning something special for Act III's release next spring, but won't say more than that at this point. He promises to keep fans up to date on what's happening with a video blog on his website, but we're still waiting for that, too.

Victor revealed that Act III will "be a REBIRTH for what NWL has become, sonically and conceptually. This is the album that will make the most sense, and complete NWL as an art form."

Victor wrote in a recent MySpace blog entry that he's been inspired by The Cure and New Order's guitar tones and David Bowie's vocals, but that his next album will still sound like a NWL album.

"Stylistically this round, I found I've mostly written in 3 categories. 1. Funeral marches. Really sad, slow drawn out melancholic songs. Some almost sound like lost 60's songs, really dramatic. These are mostly on the back burner for another project. 2. Songs that in mind my are just to simple, or too obvious for where I want to take NWL this time. And 3. Darker, dancier songs, mostly upbeat stuff temp-wise, but gothic and syrupy production-wise."

So basically mid-period Depeche Mode. That's innovative.

Victor will again play all the instruments on the album, but previous records have featured vocal collaborations with the likes of Alexisonfire and City And Colour's Dallas Green, The Watchmen's Daniel Greaves and Our Lady Peace's Raine Maida.

Here are some ideas on who might be on Act III:

Jimmy Gnecco: The Ours frontman has been on both Act I and Act II.
Jeff Martin: No one else in Canada will work with him anymore.
Matt Good: The same goes for him.
Trevor Hurst (Econoline Crush): He's into all that pseudo-goth shit.
Katie Sketch (formerly of The Organ): What else does she have to do? Plus, she has this "ethereal" voice that goth-types might like.
Rusty Matyas (The Waking Eyes): He busked with Victor on the streets of Toronto to raise money for War Child.
