Jeremy Fisher Revisits Back Porch Spirituals

Before Jeremy Fisher was making awesome homemade videos, he was touring across Canada on his bicycle to support his debut independent album, Back Porch Spirituals.

Now, seven years after its release, Fisher is taking the album back on tour. Fisher played 30 shows while travelling by bike from Seattle, Wash. to Halifax over six months in 2001. He's since released two more albums, been nominated for two Juno Awards and has retired his bike as a means of touring.

"This tour is going to be an interesting change for me," says Fisher. "I'm excited for the focus of my performances to be on the songs that helped get my start in this industry. I feel like I’m able to get back to my roots as a musician, and I really can’t wait to perform live and be on the road again."

Fisher will be accompanied by fellow Vancouver folk/pop singer/songwriter Hannah Georgas, who'll release her The Beat Stuff debut EP on Jan. 27. You can hear five of the EP's six songs on her MySpace page.

Georgas will play Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret with Dan Mangan, Christer and Arctic on Dec. 12, and The Cambrian Hall in the same city with Mangan, Hey Ocean and Said The Whale a week later. You can see Fischer and Georgas here:
