Yahoo!'s Most Searched Term: Britney Spears

Britney Spears

If you entered the words "Britney Spears," "Amy Winehouse" or "Oasis" into Yahoo! this year, you aren't alone. Or you're part of the problem, depending on perspective.

"Britney Spears" was the most searched term in the U.S. and U.K. this year, while Oasis were the fourth most-searched term in the U.K. Winehouse followed close behind on the U.K. list at #7, after "US election" and "High School Musical 3." Yahoo!'s people aren't really surprised that Spears is in the top spot.

We wonder how many of those Oasis searches were related to Noel Gallagher getting attacked at Toronto's Virgin Festival. We're also sad to see that the High School Musical 3 obsession extends outside North America.

Winehouse may be interested to know that Spears finished just ahead of "World Wrestling Entertainment" on the American list. Winehouse is reportedly a huge WWE fan and particularly fancies Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho.

Perhaps Winehouse can also take some cues from Spears, who had a breakdown last year and went to a psychiatric hospital, but has since launched a comeback and will release Circus on Tuesday. Never mind. Nobody should use Spears as a role model.
