Tegan And Sara Succeed At Writing Together... Sort Of

Tegan And Sara are known for bickering, but the Quin twins recently got along well enough to write some songs together for the first time.

We told you last week that Tegan And Sara were headed to New Orleans to write songs together for the first time in their 14-year career. Sara updated fans on the duo's songwriting progress, along with what she's reading (she loves Norman Mailer's The Armies Of The Night), in a Nov. 30 MySpace blog entry.

"New Orleans was a great success," she wrote. "Although, it may have been the last 'first time Tegan and Sara go to New Orleans to write songs together for the first time EVER' ever.

"The songs that we did write together sound amazing. Especially because tegan plays absurdly wonderful drums on all of them."

Whether those songs show up on a record remains to be seen, but maybe they'll surface when Tegan And Sara play Vancouver's Orpheum Theatre on Feb. 6 with Broken Social Scene.

Tegan And Sara's last release was 2007's The Con. Tegan is based in Vancouver, while Sara resides in Montreal. The duo have written songs separately and then recorded them together in the studio in the past.
