Swervedriver and Toshack Highway singer/guitarist Adam Franklin and Interpol drummer Sam Fogarino's
Magnetic Morning project will physically release their
A.M. debut album on Jan. 27 via Friend Or Faux.
The duo were originally called The Setting Suns, but were forced to change the name because it was too close to that of a New York band called Setting Sun. They
released a self-titled EP in April and worked on
A.M. in Athens, Ga. with Now It's Overheard's Andy LeMaster at the sound board.
Franklin and Fogarino were introduced by mutual friend Jack Rabid of
The Big Takeover magazine in early 2006. Album Leaf keyboardist Jimmy LaValle, bassist Josh Stoddard and Interpol touring guitarist Frederic "F.A." Blasco have since been added to the lineup.
A.M. can be purchased as a download now and four of its songs can be heard on Magnetic Morning's
MySpace page.
Swervedriver reformed for their first tour in almost a decade earlier this year. Remastered versions of their first three albums — 1991's
Raise, 1993's
Mezcal Head and 1995's
Ejector Seat Reservation — will be reissued in North America on Jan. 6. They'll come in new packaging and feature four bonus tracks each.
Here are the songs on
A.M.:
"Spring Unseen"
"At A Crossroads, Passive"
"Indian Summer"
"Come Back"
"No Direction"
"Motorway"
"The Wrong Turning"
"Out In The Streets"
"And I Wonder"
"Athens 5"
