Tegan And Sara Write Together

Tegan And Sara are relocating to New Orleans to write songs together for what Tegan says will be the first time in their 14-year career.

"We think this is going to be amazing but it might be horrific," Tegan wrote in a recent MySpace blog entry. "You never know!

"Don't worry we are going to document the important and moving moments as always, so you too can feel like you were there with us."

Sara resides in Montreal, while Tegan, who's normally based in Vancouver, has been living in Los Angeles, where she's been "working hard on what will hopefully be the first Tegan and Sara book in a series of books we intend on self publishing next year," she wrote.

"Each book in the series will not only be amazing, artistic, and packed full of Tegan and Sara essays, photos and love but it will also be reasonably priced! Ha."

Tegan's blog also talked about her role in protesting Proposition 8, a resolution that was passed on U.S. election day which bans gay marriage in California.

"It's been moving and memorable to have the opportunity to be involved. To stand with all the Californians who've participated has been an honor. I hope for all our sakes that the California Courts overturn this unfair Proposition and your rights are returned to you. Equality is coming. Stay strong. Stay Calm. Stay organized and be peaceful.Remember that even though the election is over and Prop 8 passed that the winds of change ARE blowing and your rights will be restored.

"Don't fall victim to pressure to act out or destroy private property. Stay on the path set out by the organizers and protected by the police. I saw so many of you marching out there and I want you to know I appreciate that so many of our fans are civil rights activists! Wherever you fall on the spectrum of sexuality you deserve the same rights and to be equal!"

The Quin twins have several Australian shows scheduled for December and January. If all goes well in New Orleans, maybe they'll show off some new songs when they play Vancouver's Orpheum Theatre on Feb. 6 with Broken Social Scene.
