The Jesus Lizard Back Together Again

The Jesus Lizard
The original Jesus Lizard lineup of singer David Yow, guitarist Duane Denison, bassist David William Sims and drummer Mac McNeilly will play together for the first time in 12 years, beginning at All Tomorrow's Parties' The Fans Strike Back event from May 8 to 10 in the U.K.

The Jesus Lizard formed in Chicago in 1987 and disbanded in 1999 after releasing six albums. The members have stayed active with various musical projects, but The Jesus Lizard seem more popular with people, since all the acts playing the festival are chosen from fan votes.

In conjunction with what Touch And Go (which released The Jesus Lizard's first four albums) calls a "fleeting reunion," the label will reissue remastered versions of Head, Goat, Liar and Down on vinyl and CD with expanded packaging and liner notes in May. The abrasive rockers are expected to make their final appearance in Chicago in late November.

Young Marble Giants will also reunite for The Fans Strike Back to perform their Colossal Youth album in its entirety, while Sleep will do likewise with Holy Mountain. Sleep will also play selections from Dopesmoker. Devo, Spiritualized, Antipop Consortium, Grails, Sleepy Sun and The Cave Singers have also been confirmed to play.

All Tomorrow's Parties' second week will run from May 15 to 17, also at the Butlins Holiday Centre in Minehead, England, and will be curated by The Breeders. Toronto's Holy Fuck, Gang Of Four, Throwing Muses, Bon Iver, Teenage Fanclub, Kimya Dawson, Pit Er Pat, Deerhunter and Shellac are those who've been named for that one so far.
