U2's new album will almost certainly be titled
No Line On The Horizon when it finally arrives in stores in February.
"It's an image," guitarist The Edge said of the record's working title in an interview with Britain's
Mojo magazine. "It's like when you're moving forward, but you're not exactly sure what you're heading towards — that moment where the sea and the sky blend into one. It's an image of infinity, I suppose — a kind of Zen image."
While U2 wrote more than 50 songs for the album, none of those
recorded two years ago with producer Rick Rubin will be included.
"I think there are some fantastic ideas there and they will, I'm sure, be finished off and see the light of day," The Edge said.
Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, who have a long working relationship with U2,
produced and co-wrote songs on the album. Tracks confirmed to appear on the disc include the seven-and-a-half-minute "Moment Of Surrender" and "Unknown Caller."
U2's 12th studio album is being mixed in an undisclosed London, England studio. It's their first since 2004's
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.
