Islands' Nick Thorburn Gets Charitable

Islands' Nick Thorburn has organized a benefit show for New York volunteer organization New York Cares.
The event takes place on Dec. 8 at the soon-to-close Knitting Factory and will feature appearances from David Cross, Marnie Stern, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead's Conrad Keely, Leona Naess, Despot and Thorburn, who will appear as Nick Diamonds. Comedian John Roberts will host the show.
The event will also include "miracle fruit" taste testings, humans in
cages, live art installations and knitting tutorials. It's winter, so
we guess it's about time you learned how to knit yourself a scarf.
Organizers would love it if attendees donated a spare winter coat for New York Cares' coat drive. Tickets for the all-ages event are $20 and can be purchased through ticketweb.com and The Knitting Factory box office.
Islands will kick off a European tour in February. You can see Thorburn with Jim Guthrie when Human Highway play these Canadian shows:
Dec. 14 Ottawa, ON @ Mavericks
Dec. 15 Montreal, QC @ Il Motore
Dec. 16 Toronto, ON @ Tranzac
Dec. 17 Guelph, ON @ E-Bar
