While it's no
Chinese Democracy with a 14-year wait, you can hear
Electric Arguments,
Paul McCartney's first album with his
The Fireman project in 10 years, on the duo's
MySpace page.
The 13 songs on
Electric Arguments were each
recorded in a single day, and it's the first Fireman release to feature vocals.
"So we went in the studio and we just started to do something different, and because the other two albums had always been on the one chord, like Indian music [humming], we decided we'd stick a couple of other chords in, so it went in a completely different direction," McCartney told Britain's Absolute Radio.
"Then it kind of seemed like it might need vocals and words, so I said, 'But I haven't got any songs,' and therefore no words or melodies or anything. So at the risk of humiliation and complete and utter degradation, I went in through the mic and listened to the track that we'd made, and I just started [singing]... making it up, yes."
The Fireman consists of McCartney and super-producer Youth (Primal Scream, James). Their last release was 1998's
Rushes, which was the follow-up to their 1993
Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest debut.
