Die Mannequin Recording Album

Die Mannequin are set to begin recording their first full-length album.

In a Nov. 6 MySpace blog entry, bassist Anthony "Useless" Bleed wrote that the band have recently been writing and demoing songs in their bedroom and EMI's in-house studio for the full-length, which will be produced by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Hatebreed). Bleed writes that the trio will likely head south to escape the Canadian winter and begin recording sometime soon.

"we have amassed a pile of some pretty damn good tunes, a few of which y'all have heard live this year, and a bunch that ya haven't, so be excited, be verrrrrry excited..muah ahh ahhhh!" Bleed wrote. "but seriously, there are so many great songs, i must really say that care [Failure, vocalist/guitarist] has outdone herself (with a little help from a few friends, even a bit from little ole me!), with the bulk of it coming from her twistedly talented and creative little noggin...believe you me, ye shall be very impressed!

"and we now know it'll come out sounding like every kind of natural disaster you can think of, combined...thunderous and roaring with crazy flashes and wails for mercy..."

In the meantime, you can see Die Mannequin on The Rawside Of... documentary television series that airs tonight on IFC at 8 p.m. The one-hour episode follows Die Mannequin on tour and chronicles some of the difficulties they faced.

Die Mannequin recently toured Europe and won a Jagermeister-sponsored rock-off in Germany. Bleed says the band will return to Germany in May to play at the final, where the band hopes to "win some big euros!"

Die Mannequin have released two EPs — 2006's How To Kill and 2007's Slaughter Daughter — along with a compilation of those EPs called Unicorn Steaks, which came out earlier this year. In addition to Failure and Bleed, the band also includes drummer Ghostwolf.
