There's a bit of a battle at the top of the chart these days.

The champion for the majority of autumn has been Chad VanGaalen's Soft Airplane, which has held the top spot for seven of the past eight weeks. But it has been bumped to #2 by Mother Mother's O My Heart, which returns to the top of the chart for the second time after sitting there two weeks ago.

This could be Mother Mother's last week at #1, as a new contender (and popular college radio band) is quickly shooting up the chart. The Dears' Missiles moves up 27 places to #3 and pushes Of Montreal's Skeletal Lamping down a spot to #4. Gang Gang Dance's Saint Dymphna is also rising rapidly through the ranks and jumps 13 positions to #5.

TV On The Radio's Dear Science slips two spots to #6, as Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains' self-titled release rises seven places to #7. Land Of Talk's Some Are Lakes drops to #8, followed by The Organ's Thieves at #9 and Deerhoof's Offend Maggie at #10. Each of these titles dropped two places from last week.

The oddly named DD/MM/YYYY are winners of this week's Chart Sizzler Award. Their new seven-inch EP, 777, is the highest debut this week at #16. The next two highest new entries are The Magnificent 7's' Dirty Roads at #22 and Love Is All's A Hundred Things Keep Me Up At Night at #26. Other notable new entries include Lucinda Williams' Little Honey at #35 (thanks in part to its #1 position on Alberta-based CKUA), Kaiser Chiefs' Off With Their Heads at #37 and Parts And Labor's Receivers at #43.

Elliott Brood's Mountain Meadows remains at #31 in its 18th week on the chart. Women's eponymous release falls seven places to #24 in its 14th week, while The Pack A.D.'s Funeral Mixtape plummets 25 places to #40 in its 13th week.

The only specialty chart to feature the same #1 as last week is Metal/Punk, where Amon Amarth's Twilight Of The Thunder God remains for a third straight week.

The World/Folk chart has a former #1 returning to the top spot, as the Calypsoul 70 compilation rises three places to recapture #1. The Jazz/Blues top 10 does this trick one better, as former #1 Mark DeJong's The Unknown re-enters the chart in the top spot.

The other two charts have completely new #1s, though Moka Only's Carrots And Eggs follows a very similar path to his previous release. Clap Trap debuted at #1 on the Hip-Hop chart during the week of Aug. 10, and Carrots And Eggs does the same thing this week. Thievery Corporation's Radio Retaliation rises four positions to claim the top spot on the Electronic top 10.
