Although
+44 are on a break while drummer
Travis Barker heals from the
plane crash he survived at the end of September,
Mark Hoppus has written new material and can't wait to begin working on a new album.
Hoppus told
MTV News that he regularly speaks to Barker, who's currently recovering at his California home. Barker and DJ AM both suffered second- and third-degree burns when a plane they were in crashed while it was taking off in Columbia, S.C. and then burst into flames. Barker was
released from hospital last month, and has been
eating meat to recover faster.
"I've been writing a bunch of stuff and getting a lot of songs together," Hoppus told
MTV News. "We'll just have to see what happens over the next few months.
"He can't wait to get back on the drums. He can't wait to get back in the studio, you know? I can't even imagine what he's had to go through these past weeks, and he's just trying to stay positive and get back in the studio and do good work."
Along with Barker on drums and Hoppus on vocals and bass, +44 also includes Juliette And The Licks guitarist Craig Fairbaugh and former The Nervous Return guitarist Shane Gallagher. Their
When Your Heart Stops Beating debut came out in 2006. Barker and Hoppus were previously members of gross-out pop-punks Blink-182.
