Get Up Kids To Reunite

Get Up Kids

Emo kids rejoice! The Get Up Kids will reunite for a one-off gig in their hometown of Kansas City, Mo. on Sunday.

The band split in 2005, but the upcoming 10th anniversary of their sophomore album, 1999's Something To Write Home About, prompted the reunion show. There's no word on whether more reunion shows or (gasp!) an album will follow.

Frontman Matt Pryor recently told the Kansas City Star newspaper that the band were planning to release a 10th anniversary edition of Something To Write Home About, which would include a DVD and photo book. It's not known if the band's label, Vagrant, will release the package.

"We weren't going to do it until next year, but we decided it'd be funny if we just showed up and played a show," Pryor said. "We thought about doing it Thanksgiving, like, 'Hey, we all happen to be home for Thanksgiving...,' but that didn't work out."

The Get Up Kids formed in 1995 and released their Four Minute Mile debut in 1997. Their last album was 2004's Guilt Show. At the time of their break-up, the membership included Pryor, drummer Ryan Pope, guitarist/singer Jim Suptic, bassist Rob Pope and keyboardist/singer James Dewees.

Pryor went on a solo tour earlier this year.
