Handsome Furs Engage In Face Control

Wolf Parade's Dan Boeckner and his wife Alexei Perry, collectively known as Handsome Furs, will return with their sophomore Sub Pop album, Face Control,  on Feb. 3.

It was recorded and mixed by Wolf Parade drummer Arlen Thompson at Montreal's Mount Zoomer studios, where Wolf Parade recorded their recently released sophomore album, At Mount Zoomer. Harris Newman mastered Face Control at Hotel2Tango.

"It's going to be different than the last record," Boeckner told the Radio Free Canuckistan blog. "You know that band No Age? It's kind of like that meets Spank Rock.

"The last one was so intense and heavy in one direction and we wanted to do something different."

Face Control was heavily influenced by a trip the married couple took to Russia last year, according to Boeckner. In Moscow, clubbers must reserve seats at a bar by paying in advance through PayPal or using cash, but they might not even get in since bouncers can turn them away based on how they're dressed, which is called "face control."

Handsome Furs released their Plague Park debut through Sub Pop last year. Perry also works as a short story writer.
