Cruise With BNL And Friends

Barenaked Ladies

If you're thinking of sailing with the Barenaked Ladies on their Ships & Dip V cruise in February, but aren't sure what you might be in store for, the Ships & Dip III DVD might help you make a decision.

The DVD documents the 2007 cruise on the Carnival Victory, and contains more than 20 performances and behind-the-scenes action — including Ed Robertson in a Speedo. (You've been warned.)

You can order it online now and receive it when it's officially released on Dec. 6. The DVD will also be available at the Ladies' afternoon and evening shows on Dec. 6 and 7 at Toronto's Massey Hall, the day- and night-time performances at Ottawa's National Arts Centre on Dec. 13, and the Ships & Dip V cruise that sets sail on Feb. 1.

Ships & Dip V will take place on the Norwegian Jewel and embark from Miami. The vessel will stop at Cozumel, Mexico and Norwegian Cruise Line's private island, Great Stirrup Cay, before returning to Miami on Feb. 6.

Not only will you eat more food than you should, soak up the sun and brush up on your shuffleboard, but you'll likely share the ship with a different crowd than the blue hairs and fatsos (especially now that Steven Page has lost weight) who too often make up the bulk of cruise passenger lists.

Why? Because Barenaked Ladies will be joined by these people to entertain you:

The Weakerthans, Sloan, Great Big Sea, The New Odds, Luke Doucet, Melissa McClelland, The Mountain Goats, Gaelic Storm, Butterfly Boucher, Brothers Creeggan, Mike Evin, Christine Fellows, Boothby Graffoe, Thinbuckle and The Vanity Project. Kids In The Hall members Dave Foley and Kevin McDonald are also part of the talent lineup.

Who knows what you might share at your table with fellow passengers? After all, you will be on the high seas.

You'll only be guaranteed access to one ticketed BNL headlining gig during the voyage, but the rest of the performances by the other acts will be run "festival style," with multiple shows going on simultaneously.

There are less than 100 cabins left, and prices start at $799 per person. Go here if you want to be part of the fun.
