Goth-punks rejoice (if that befits your demeanour)!
AFI are set to enter the studio to begin recording their eighth studio album.
The album doesn't yet carry a title, but the band have enlisted David Bottrill (Tool, Muse) to produce the disc. They recently finished writing songs for the album, which is expected in stores sometime next year.
"We've spent this whole year crafting these songs and we're impatient to share them, so let's get busy," guitarist Jade Puget wrote in a Nov. 9 MySpace
blog entry.
AFI's last studio release was 2006's
Decemberunderground, but band members have started a few side projects in the interim. Puget and singer Davey Havok released an electronic album as
Blaqk Audio last year, while bassist Hunter Burgan rejoined The Force, the band he was in before he became a member of AFI. He also played on Tegan And Sara's
The Con. Havok also started a fashion line called Paden that's sold in Fred Segal stores in California.
