If it's early November, it's time for Mint Records to announce their annual "Ridiculously Early Xmas Party."
There will actually be two shindigs featuring performances by many of the acts on the label's roster. The first will be held at Vancouver's Ukrainian Hall and is billed as "Nardwuar Nite." Chart contributor and possible 2009 Juno Awards host Nardwuar The Human Serviette will show interview clips from his video vault and perform with his bands The Evaporators and Thee Goblins. The Pack A.D., Lois and Kellarissa are also on the bill, which will likely get bigger.
Mint will really get into the Christmas spirit the next evening, when the first 75 paid entrants at Vancouver's Cambrian Hall will receive presents. All the door proceeds will be donated to the ALS Society Of Canada. Novillero, The Ramblin' Ambassadors, Hot Panda, Young And Sexy, The Awkward Stage, Bella and Vancougar will provide music for the celebration.
Tickets for both nights can be purchased in advance at Zulu, Red Cat and Scratch, or you can pick them up at the door for a couple of bucks more if they're still available.
It was at the Mint Xmas Party two years ago when our Nardo bullied Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, who was in the audience, to play a song with him.
