Fall Out Boy's attempt to make the Guinness Book Of World Records by playing concerts on all seven continents fell through earlier this year when bad weather forced them to cancel a gig in Antarctica. While they haven't given up on that dream, the band have another plan to make it into the book.
Bassist Pete Wentz and frontman Patrick Stump will try to do the "most radio interviews by a pair within 24 hours," beginning at 3 a.m. PST Friday at Los Angeles' Premiere Studios. The two men will make that their base as they talk to stations from around the world.
Their goal is to obliterate the record set in May by New Zealand's Alastair Galpin and John Stansfield, who did 57 interviews. That doesn't sound so hard. Hell, if I can find that many people interested in talking to me, you're invited to join me in trying to one-up the emo duo. I haven't banged Ashlee Simpson, but I could come up with a lot of other things to discuss.
Fall Out Boy's "I Don't Care" single is out now, while their Folie A Deux album will follow on Dec. 16. The group were in Toronto for an hour-long outdoor performance at MuchMusic on Tuesday evening. I heard a lot of screaming girls and the band covering Michael Jackson's "Beat It" on a stage set up in the Much parking lot when I rode by on the streetcar.
