Duran Duran's Rio Gets Documentary Treatment

Duran Duran
If you've ever wondered about the historical context and story behind Duran Duran's sophomore album, Rio, you'll be able to educate yourself when Eagle Rock Entertainment releases Rio on DVD as part of their Classic Albums documentary series.

The 90-minute DVD looks at the recording of the album and features new and archival performance footage and musical demonstrations. There are also interviews with band members and producers, and excerpts from "Hungry Like The Wolf," the title track, "New Religion" and others songs.

Rio was originally released in 1982 and it made group members Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes and the unrelated John, Roger and Andy Taylor among the first to become stars of the early music video era. Rio hit #2 on the British album sales chart, and it reached #5 in the U.S. "Hungry Like The Wolf" was a chart-topping single in Canada, while "Rio," "Save A Prayer" and "My Own Way" were also hits around the globe.

Duran Duran have since released 10 more albums. The British group's most recent is last year's Red Carpet Massacre.
