USS Win Two CASBYs

Toronto duo Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker (better known as USS) beat out other nominees like Die Mannequin, The Flatliners, Bedouin Soundclash, Sam Roberts and Tokyo Police Club to win two CASBY (Canadian Artists Selected By You) Awards on Wednesday night.

Edge 102.1 FM listeners voted for the band as their favourite new artist and USS' "Hollow Point Sniper Hyperbole" as their favourite new single. Tokyo Police Club's Elephant Shell won the favourite new album award, while City And Colour's Bring Me Your Love was awarded the prize for NXNE favourite new indie release.

This year's CASBY Awards were held at Toronto's Kool Haus and featured performances by USS, Sloan, City And Colour, Neverending White Lights, Die Mannequin, Bedouin Soundclash and Tokyo Police Club.

102.1 The Edge hands the CASBYs out every year. The awards are chosen by Edge listeners, who vote for their favourite nominees through the radio station's website. The CASBY Awards first started in 1981 and were originally called the U-Knows, as an alternative to the Juno Awards.

Previous CASBY winners include Alexisonfire, the Barenaked Ladies, Sum 41, The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts, The Pursuit Of Happiness, Arcade Fire and others.
