Paul McCartney Gets Beheaded - Updated!

Paul McCartney

A wax statue of Paul McCartney has lost its head.

Last week, Joby Carter was transporting a wax Macca head from London, England to Reading and left it under the seat of a train at a station in Maidenhead. This was silly, as the entire wax figure was going to be auctioned off on Oct. 26 at Carters Entertainment and was expected to fetch between 5,000 to 10,000 British pounds (about $10,000 to $20,500 Canadian).

Carter can't sell the statue, which had been on display at Louis Toussaud's House Of Wax in Great Yarmouth, England, without the head. That means he's offering a 2,000 pound (about $4,000 Canadian) reward for its return. Carter also told the BBC that since he has lost the head, more bids have come in, but he considers the statue to be worthless without the head.

"So far, we've had a lot of hoax calls from people claiming to have seen the head but nothing concrete," Carter told the BBC.

"Someone may have just picked it up and thrown it away without realising what it was or someone might be trying to sell it."

This is not the first time a Beatles statue has lost its head. In August, a foliage sculpture of Ringo Starr was beheaded. The rest of the sculpture, which also featured McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison, was left alone. This happened after Starr said he didn't miss Liverpool while he was on Jonathan Ross' BBC talk show.

Perhaps Carter should get Starr to help him out on his quest to find the head. We all know Starr is good at making people freak out when he posts his videos. So maybe if he made one and posted it on his website saying, "I'm warning you with peace and love, please return Paul McCartney's head," Carter would soon find Macca's wax cranium back in his possession.

UPDATE #1: According to London, England's Ealing Times, a homeless man named Tony Silva found the Macca wax doll's head and returned it to London's Abbey Road Studios earlier today.

It's not known where Silva found the head or why he decided to return it to Abbey Road Studios, but most likely he'll be able to collect the 2,000 pound reward that Carter was offering for it.

Carter received a call earlier today saying Silva had found the head and wanted to meet him to return it.

"We've had a lot of pranks calls so my assistant asked him to send in a picture and low and behold there he is holding the head," Carter told BBC News.

"He has not given us much information but he wanted to meet me personally."
