You might want to catch Feist on her current Canadian tour, because it'll be the last you see of her for a while.
The 32-year-old songstress is planning on going into musical hibernation after her current Canadian tour ends in Charlottetown on Nov. 10.
"I'm a little tuckered out," Feist told The Canadian Press. "I'm just going to take some time off.
"When the time's right, of course, I'll start to write again."
Feist has been busy since she released her third album, The Reminder, last year. The album exploded after "1234" was used in an iPod commercial, and Feist went on to win all five 2008 Juno Awards for which she was nominated, including artist and album of the year. The album has also since sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide.
"[My career] has become kind of large and it really began for me very, very small — like me alone in my bedroom with my four track and a pair of headphones," she said. "I just need to go back there for a while to get my bearings again and then know what to do next."
While a break is warranted and maybe even expected of the Nova Scotia native, Feist revealed the more shocking news that her days with Broken Social Scene are pretty much done.
"I don't really know how involved I feel [with the band] anymore," she said. "For me, it's not what it was. It's not really as interesting for me as it once was.
"[Playing with Broken Social Scene] would be like a reunion to be able to hang out with everyone, but I can do that around a kitchen table too."
Feist is asking fans to bring food donations to her shows, and her first tour stop in Penticton, B.C. on Oct. 14 yielded some big results. An Oct. 18 MySpace blog entry states:
"The results are in from the Feist Food Drive in Penticton, and we are delighted to announce that more than 600 pounds of food were collected! Incredible. More news to follow as the Drive drives east."
