Travis Barker has spoken out a bit more about last month's plane crash which claimed the lives of two of his friends and left him and
DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) in hospital recovering from severe burns.
Barker underwent his seventh surgery on Monday and says he's now able to move all of his fingers on his right hand. Barker suffered second and third degree burns on his lower body and torso when the Learjet 60 airplane he was in crashed near Columbia, S.C. when it was leaving a runway for Van Nuys, Calif. Four people, including Barker's personal assistant Chris Barker and Charles "Che" Still, his bodyguard, died in the crash.
"I would give up anything to have them here with us today, healthy and happy," Barker recently wrote on his
MySpace page, which has also been updated with photos of him in his hospital bed. "To call them my employees does them such a disservice, as they were so much more than that. Chris was my best friend before anything else, and I can never put into words how much he will be missed. Che was an amazing person as well, and I was honored to have him in my life.
"I am simply amazed and will be forever grateful for all the support everyone has shown to Chris and Che's families. Its a testament to how many lives they touched in a positive way."
Barker wrote that he is "counting the days until I can leave" and also confirmed previous reports that he has given up his vegetarianism in an effort to recover faster. He says it's all in an effort to see Landon Asher and Alabama Luella, his children with ex-wife Shanna Moakler.
"Yes, I did start eating meat again, but if it helps me to be home holding my little humans sooner, then it's all worth it."
