...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead left Interscope Records last year and will release Festival Thyme, a prelude to their upcoming as-yet-untitled sixth album, on Oct. 21 through their Justice Records imprint, Scale.
The four-track effort will be available on 10-inch vinyl, CD and as a download. It features a remix of "Bells Of Creation," a track which will make it on to the new album that's scheduled for release in January. It also features a cover of The Replacements' "Within Your Reach" and two other new songs.
Last year, Trail Of Dead frontman Conrad Keely posted a message on the band's website (which was later removed) in which he explained the decision to leave Interscope.
"At the expense of a massive debt to them of half a million dollars, they really helped us to grow," he wrote. "They've taught us about the worthlessness of A&R people, how to yell at idiots running an art department, and how to shake hands with smiling retailers who have no idea who you are."
Singer/guitarist/drummer Keely formed Trail Of Dead with fellow singer/guitarist/drummer Jason Reece in 1994. The band are now a sextet who also include guitarist/singer Kevin Allen, drummer/pianist/singer Aaron Ford, bassist/singer Jay Phillips and pianist/singer Clay Morris. Trail Of Dead's most recent album is 2006's So Divided.
Here's what's on Festival Thyme:
Side one:
"Bells Of Creation" (Machete Mix)
"Within Your Reach"
Side two:
"Festival Thyme"
"The Betrayal Of Roger Casement And The Irish Brigade"
