Great Big Sea fans got an unexpected surprise at the band's Oct. 3 show at Los Angeles' House Of Blues. The band were joined by actor Russell Crowe, who warbled his way through a cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues."
Crowe is a fan and friend of Great Big Sea and co-wrote "Company Of Fools" on their recent Fortune's Favour album. Crowe first met the band members four years ago in Toronto, and he also joined them on stage in their hometown of St. John's, Nfld. at O'Reilly's Pub in 2005.
In addition to acting, Crowe is the frontman of the terribly named Australian band 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts, who thankfully haven't released anything since 2003.
Here's Crowe's on-stage cameo with Great Big Sea:

Nov. 18 Barrie, ON @ Barrie Molson Centre
